The original painting is the culmination of a series exploring dawn over Mumbles in winter. The artist ventured out at first light, just as the sun began to rise behind Mumbles Head-an alignment unique to the winter months. Working on location, she produced a number of sketches and pastel studies, later using these in the studio to develop the final pieces on canvas.
She spoke of her desire to capture the way the early light illuminated the buildings of Oyster Wharf, creating a striking contrast against the deeper shadows cast over the village and the houses on Mumbles Hill.
The latest print in her collection, it's colour and depth still shines
