August's New Artwork

The summer sunshine has finally arrived, and there's been an influx of new artwork in the Gallery to reflect the season. Whether you enjoy relaxing on the beach with a good book or a warm evening stroll through a tranquil harbour town, there's something new for you.

Brand New: Wild Swimmers, Welsh Miners, Sheep and Seals

Odwen has been hard at work creating a new ceramics range for the Gallery. The collection includes charming wild swimmers. Although available individually, we think they make perfect pairs.

For those who appreciate the traditional, there are also Welsh miners, seals and sheep.

New In: Rotherslade Beach and Blackbirds Flying by Phillippa Walter

Specialising in linocut prints, Phillippa Walter is a local Swansea printmaker who's been continually delighting Gower Gallery customers with her playful and often mischievous designs. Her latest additions use intricate line work to produce a stunning pair of sunbathers and a quartet of blackbirds battling the breeze.

To make linocut prints, you begin by carving out negative space into a press, then applying a thin and consistent layer of ink to a surface, then a roller, before being transferred to the press, then the printmaking paper.

Brand New: Tenby Harbour at Dusk by Noodle Design

Andrew Hilton has taken a trip down to Tenby to capture the medieval town's historic harbour. His charming illustrated style produces a dusk scene encapsulating an evening in Tenby.

Since moving to Wales, Andrew, a formerly renowned architectural illustrator, has turned his attention to the surrounding landscape, responding with playful, illustrative images of iconic Swansea landmarks.

Restock: Rupert Blamire Ceramics

Rupert Blamire's branding reads 'Ceramics for cooks and kitchens'; we suspect it's more the latter. Regardless, he has kindly dropped off an influx of new ceramics to the Gallery. The ever-popular potter has given us a full refill of his stock, so there are loads of lovely bits to browse in the Gallery or online.

We've got gorgeous little tapas plates, olive and stone bowls, spoon rests and much more to help you present and store your goodies in the prettiest manner possible.
