Valerie Ganz

Born in Swansea, Valerie Ganz RCA attended Swansea College of Art and studied painting, sculpture, and stained glass. As her interest in the landscape of South Wales grew, her attention was drawn to the mining industry. Over many years she worked at fourteen different collieries, sketching alongside miners even at the coalface. Ganz’s work is displayed at the National Museum of Wales Cardiff, the Palace of Westminster London, and The Glyn Vivian Art Gallery Swansea.
