Frances started making silver jewellery in the 1990’s whilst still exhibiting and selling print work. Her work is figurative, working from observation.
Recently, Frances has been working on exploring larger 3d pieces which are really an extension and also a combination of her jewellery and print techniques.
These pieces use birds & hens in particular as a main theme, and combine a range of found materials with textured base metal.
Frances uses her etching skills, the rolling mill and also draws on the metal surface with hammer and punch to make individual birds that are presented on a wooden framework.
